g.LADYbird TMS-EEG

Active and passive EEG electrodes for TMS

g.LADYbird TMS-EEG electrodes are designed for high-quality EEG recording during TMS. Their flat, 3 mm profile lets the TMS coil sit as close to the head as possible: stronger stimulation, a cleaner signal. Active and passive versions suit different research needs, and with the g.HIamp amplifier and g.HIsys Professional they support closed-loop experiments.

Highlights

  • 3 mm thin: the TMS coil sits as close to the head as possible, with fewer TMS-induced artefacts
  • Active version: a preamplifier in the electrode, reliable recordings even at high impedance; no abrasion, one drop of gel
  • Passive version: no electronics, a clean signal milliseconds after the TMS pulse
  • Sintered Ag/AgCl and 0–10 kHz in both versions
  • Electrodes stay in the cap: quick to mount and clean, replaceable one by one
  • Simultaneous impedance check of every channel with g.HIamp
  • The g.GAMMAcap system is designed for use with TMS devices of different brands
  • Dedicated algorithms in g.BSanalyze for TMS artefacts after recording

Active electrode

The signal is amplified at its source

g.LADYbird active TMS-EEG electrodes

The g.LADYbird active electrode carries a high-quality preamplifier at its tip: the signal is amplified as close to its source as possible and noise drops markedly. The electrodes run through g.HIamp's active electrode box. The active version's main advantage is reliable recording at far higher impedances than passive electrodes allow; no abrasive skin preparation is needed.

  • Built-in preamplifier
  • High impedance
  • Quick mounting
Passive electrode

No electronics, fewest artefacts

g.LADYbird passive electrodes in the cap

The passive electrode holds no electronic components, so electromagnetic artefacts from TMS stimulation are kept to a minimum and a clean EEG signal is available only milliseconds after the TMS pulse. In short-latency evoked potential (EP) recordings with TMS in particular, the signal returns to its normal level quickly. An electrode-skin impedance of 1–5 kΩ, reached with abrasive gel, is recommended.

Closed-loop TMS-EEG with g.HIamp

A TMS coil over an EEG cap

The electrodes connect to g.HIamp, which streams the data into g.HIsys Professional, so closed-loop experiments can be designed. Real-time recording in g.Recorder, then TMS artefact removal in g.BSanalyze: a complete 64-channel TMS-EEG set-up.
